Detoured Progress

Day 24 - Trained Endurance

The clocks going forward make little difference to the early morning routine of setting off on a hike in the Vosges mountains. The varying topography and weather require frequent changes to the number of layers worn to prevent transudation. Lunch in Châtenois reveals the absence of any kind of reasonably priced accommodation for the night on the intended route. With a brimming energy tank, the route is adapted somewhat along the way to take full advantage thereof. Watching live football whilst marching through deserted fields provides entertainment on a very long day of hiking, ending in a place never visited and with a challenge to get back on course in the days ahead.
