A Well Earned Break

GR5

Day 29 - Severe Water Shortage

Following a very cold night, progress along the Doubs is steep and intense. The wet camping gear adds further weight to the backpack whilst the lack of water sources make progress in the scorching spring sun insufferable at times. Nevertheless, inspired by the envisaged break in the days ahead, the target across the Swiss border is reached with no time to spare. Following a month of incredible progress along the way, a break to allow the body to rest and clothes to be washed is more than justified. Considering the final crossing of the Alps to Nice can commence in June at the earliest, there is likely to be ample time to engage in another form of travel in the meantime.
